Pubs in Duisburg

Unfortunately, Duisburg doesn't have as many pubs as it did 30 years ago, but we do have some with history and really well-poured beer. Since these aren't always easy to find, here are our favorite pubs and bars in Duisburg.

Distance to the meeting point: approx. 250 m
Pub with restaurant and SKY Sportsbar
You can already find this pub in our restaurant recommendations – it's right around the corner from us. Good, fresh beer and slivovitz. Always a good choice for football.

Cafe Gräfen CITY Distance approx. 4 km
Cool pub with avant-garde style
The Gräfen, also known as the Peanut Pub, starts around 6 pm and goes on until late into the night. Besides beer, they also offer a few cocktails with little fruit, starting at €6.50, and they're tasty. It usually gets busy around midnight.

Pampus CITY distance approx. 4 km
Beer and billiards
It's basically a normal pub; the landlady behind the bar is just 80 years old, and they serve a perfectly poured KöPi for €1.50. There's a pub pool table in the back. The pub has a really great charm, though, and you quickly feel like a regular.

Harlequin CITY distance approx. 4 km
The pub for the LGBTQIA+ movement and everyone else
If you want to party, this pub is a great place to go – always a good time and no trouble. Great music and a great atmosphere. And if you're straight – don't worry! They won't do anything – they just want to have a good time too.

City-König CITY is approximately 4 km away.
Today you will be king
City-König belongs to the König Brewery, and here, the pouring of Duisburg's beloved beer is elevated to an art form. Guaranteed fresh beer and delicious meatloaf sandwiches – what more could you want? You can, of course, sit inside or outside and admire Niki de Saint Phale's sculpture, "The Lifesaver.".

Salvator Stübchen CITY Distance approx. 4 km
A little journey through time
A pub like in the good old sixties – once you're inside, you're just waiting for the lads from the blast furnace or the pit. You can sit inside or outside and enjoy a beer. Very nice and iconic.

Bollero INNER PORT Distance approx. 5 km
The inner harbor is calling
Bollero is a chain with great cocktails and Mexican dishes. It's especially busy in the summer and on weekends. The cocktails aren't overpriced, and you can also sit outside by the water and admire the skyline of the inner harbor.

Grafschafter Wirtshaus (Inner Harbor) Distance approx. 5 km
An institution in the inner harbor has been revived.
First it was Diebels – then unfortunately nothing for several years. Since May 2025, the Grafschafter Wirtshaus has opened a new branch here. You sit right by the water and can enjoy the view of the entire inner harbor. The food is rustic and fresh.

Indi CITY distance about 4 km
A club with a wild past
The club has a history: bar, brothel, pub, couples' club, and now a cool club venue. The decor subtly reveals its past and it's definitely one of the coolest places in Duisburg.

Finkenkrug NEUDORF Distance approx. 4 km
300 beers and snacks
35 beers on tap and at least 265 bottled beers, some with rather unusual names and ingredients. If you're looking to try something new, you'll find plenty of options here. As a student pub, the clientele is mostly under 30, but if that doesn't bother you, you'll have a great time.

Ferryman NEUDORF Distance approx. 4 km
A real old pub with dice cups and a foosball table.
The Fährmann pub used to be a pub frequented by older men, but then it went bankrupt. A few young people renovated it and reopened it. Now we have a foosball table, a dartboard, and some dice cups for games like Schocken or Knobeln. You can also play cards there. Like at the Finkenkrug, the clientele is mostly young. This is due to the university, which is only 200 meters away in Neudorf.

Old Ruhrort, RUHRORT: Distance approx. 10 km
The 87-year-old innkeeper serves herself
One of the oldest still-operating pubs in Duisburg, with the oldest landlady in Duisburg. The whole place screams museum, steeped in history. The landlady remembers Ruhrort when we had more pubs per square meter than Berlin and Hamburg combined. Because of the Ruhrort harbor, you couldn't drink a beer in every pub in a week without dying of alcohol poisoning. Hard to believe when you see this small, chic district today. This pub is a relic from that era.

The distance to Hübi RUHRORT is approximately 10 km.
Located right on the water, with a great view and delicious currywurst. Always worth a visit for us Duisburgers.

Anchorage bar RUHRORT Distance approx. 10km
Schimmi's regular pub in Duisburg
In the 1980s, the ARD crime series "Tatort" featured a Duisburg-based detective, Horst "Schimmi" Schimanski, played by Götz George. It took quite a while for the people of Duisburg to warm up to this detective, as he didn't portray the city in a flattering light, but rather in its honest, unvarnished glory. This pub was his regular haunt for many episodes, and many were filmed there. Nearby, there's also a street called Horst Schimanski Gasse, which leads down to the canal near Hübi.

Tips

As you can see, there are many pubs worth visiting. Partly because of the concept behind them, the delicious meatloaf sandwich, the history, or the landlady. Since the distances between them make a "tour of the town" difficult on foot, we suggest using a bicycle. You can borrow bikes from us free of charge and do some sightseeing. However, for a serious pub crawl in Duisburg, skip the bike and take public transport. It's better for your driver's license.
