Theater / Opera

The theater in Duisburg is one of the oldest buildings in Duisburg to have survived the war. It was built in 1911 in neoclassical style and has 1,117 seats. It houses the German Opera on the Rhine and the Duisburg Philharmonic.

The German Opera on the Rhine is a joint project of the cities of Düsseldorf and Duisburg. It is nationally known for its classical performances and concerts.

The Duisburg Philharmonic was founded in 1877 by Hermann Brandt and is now one of the best-known opera and concert orchestras in Germany. Until the reopening of the Mercator Hall in the CityPalais (probably in September 2016), the orchestra will play in the Theater am Marientor (TAM).

Tickets for the events can be ordered online. At reception we will also be happy to let you know which plays are currently running.
